Kendall,
My understanding is that a good trunnion will be rock solid with no
wobble or play. A trunnion that has seen better days will have
noticable slop when you hold it in your hand and move it. There is no
bearing, just threads. I could detect no play in mine when I rebuilt
my suspension but when helping a friend rebuild his I did notice slop
and we did replace his with a couple spares we had around.

Subject: How does the Trunnion work?
Hi List,
I don't really get what's going on with the trunnion... Is there some
sort of
bearing in there that I don't see in the catalogs? I'm in the middle of
replacing the front bushings on my TR6, and I have a new trunnion to
install,
but it seems to me like the old one is just fine. Any suggestions on
how to
check if it is worn out? Never visited the front suspension of my car
before so
the trunnion is a bit mysterious to me right now.
Thanks for any input!
