The key seems to operate the lock cylinder as it always did. Several mechanics
and a locksmith tried it with similar results. the trunk does not pop open,
even pulling up on the luggage rack at the same time as you push in on the
cylinder. Guessing the problem is further in the mechanism then the cylinder.
I could try:
1) Shooting the lock full of lubricant through the key hole.
2) Hammer on the cylinder with a piece of 2x4 held against the cylinder
3) Drill the innards out of the cylinder with a drill and maybe a dremel tool
I'll probably need a new cylinder, maybe a complete new locking mechamism.
What is the quality of these parts nowadays?
