I think a little grease around the outer surface will be enough to
facilitate installation and maybe some gasket dressing on the gasket
that seals the housing to the block. The seal is a very snug fit into
the housing and I would doubt that it would benefit from sealing given
the inner surface is sealing against the rotating crank so if it is
going to leak, that is probably where it is going to happen first.

Okay this seal is definitely going back in tomorrow. My thought was to
use
Permatex Hylomar HPf oun the surfaces of the seal that contact the main
seal
housing. The though is that this will facilliate installation and
sealing.
What does the group think?
