John:
Dick is correct. However, I found that my brakes would on rare
occasions squeal even with the factory anti-squeal shims. It may have
been due to the fact that my DPO let the pads wear down to the backing,
and seriously gouged the rotors =:-o. I didn't take any chances; I
turned the rotors, put in new pads, rebuilt the calipers, and installed
both the factory and the "peel and stick" anti-squeal pieces. Quiet as a
church mouse ever since.
One nice feature of the TR6 calipers is that you can replace the
pads without unmounting the caliper. By the way, I also switched to DOT
5 brake fluid. Interesting stuff to work with. So far so good, no
complaints.

P.S. I trimmed my doors this weekend, so I now have roll-up
windows and can unlatch the doors from inside the car. What luxury! All
that is left is the radio, install the hood and paint the rocker panels.
Woo-hoo! 3 years and it is almost finished!!!!!

John---Can't claim guru status, but the anti-squeal plates you describe
is what comes with many of the TR front brake setups. For many of us
this is all that's necessary to keep out brake pads from squealing.
Unless you know your brakes are going to squeal with your new pads, I'd
suggest you install them without anything but these plates.

I am ready to install my new Kevlar pads. I have 16P calipers, not the
16 PBs. I need a brake guru's advice. ;-)
I have some very weird shaped metal shims that install between the
caliper and the pad. These have an orientation arrow that is cut out or
etched out and the shims don't cover the entire surface of the pad back.
The are sort of a partial outline. I have never seen this type of deal
before. All of the shims that I am used to seemed to cover the entire
brake pad outline. How / where do you put the anti-squeal compound on
theses things???? Why are these only a partial outline?
