A decent answer is the alt. out of a '76 TR6. They put out approx 48-53
amps, and are still original equipment (i.e. no one will know you
changed it). Turns out not all Lucas alternators are not created equal
- they improved them over the years. Also if you have an air-pump on
your car and would like to keep it, steer clear of the GM conversion -
it does not fit!

Anyone remember what years the Ford Fiesta contained the Bosch
alternator that is pretty much a bolt-in fit for a TR6? I believe that
this alternator produces in the range of about 40 Amps. Anyone know of
another application with the same mount design that puts out more
