A year or two ago someone on this list gave a link to an obscure (to me) parts
place that sold brass bushings that could be used for this purpose. They had
to be drilled to make a slightly larger center hole for the shaft. The Brass
was some type of self lubricating (???) brass that supposedly doesn't gall. I
bought about 10 pair and gave them to club members who wanted them. The
originator ot this idea (who??) made some slots in the side for a "C" clip but
I didn't and just wedged them into the hole (outside is a tight press fit).
They have been on for a couple of years and still work great. In answer to the
question about making 10,000 all I can say is (wow). Someone ofn the list must
have kept the link to the parts place that sells the bushings (what about the
arcfhives). They were relatively cheap, about $1.00 each, so I doubt that the
10,000 part venture would be a commercial success.
