Don----Cams with higher lift and or longer duration than the stock
grind adds extra power to the TR engine, even when using forced
induction. The tradeoffs are the same...less torque/power at lower rpms
with gains from mid to top end. The supercharger system is more low-end
forgiving of the "hotter" cam than a turbo, as power generally comes in
earlier with the SC. It's just easier to make more power with a turbo,
and one can dial in the boost pressure that you feel the engine can
tolerate by simply adjusting the wastegate. (SC's require a change of
pulley size)

Adding fuel to an engine is relatively easy. Getting air in is the trick
with normal aspiration.

Meanwhile, most owners with forced induction are happy with the stock
cams, as the typical low end pull is still there, and the mid to top end
breathing is supplemented with the extra air and fuel.

Mild street cams can be tuned to lope, if that is what one wants to
hear. Serious cams are not so agreeable, and just lope period.

Getting more power out of the TR engine by using serious cams nearly
always includes higher rpms, which can take us past red line. (Some
electronic ignition systems have an external "chip" that can be swapped
to limit rpms to what the engine can handle. MSD-BTM is one)
Making this power at a lower rpm is what forced induction is all
about. If you use a hotter than stock cam, more air can be pushed in
with less boost pressure, which reduces intake heat, blah, blah. It's
just plain fun to see the difference each one brings!

If you like the sound of an engine running with a loping camshaft,

Not sure what you meant by this. Could you elaborate? Is a hotter cam an
advantage with a SC?
