        A used cam is worthless. Even if it is in good shape, the
lifters wear match themselves to the
lobes. If you install a used cam with your lifters, it will lose one or
more lobes in a few hundred miles.
The only way to use a used cam is with the original lifters installed in
the original positions on the
cam.
        I suggest you get your cam reconditioned, and either recondition
your lifters or use new lifters.
You will need to break it in (2000 RPM for 20 minutes) but it is the
best strategy.
        Oregon Cam Grinding (NFI) can recondition your cam for $75, and
regrind your lifters for
another $48 (new lifters are about the same price, so your choice). If
you have any damaged lobes,
they will repair them for $12 a lobe. http://www.pacifier.com/~orcam/
