Hello,

I'm slowly getting things together for a trip to my machine shop, and I've got
a hurdle to jump with selecting a head gasket.

I'm using a '74 TR6 block, which has recesses for the later style ringed head
gasket. I'm boring it out to 76.7mm, which is +2mm. What head gasket can I use?

If I use the stock late TR-6 gasket, the metal rings will protrude into the
bore pretty far. I'm concerned they may foul the piston tops or become detached
from the gasket. If I have a custom copper gasket made by Paeco, I'd have to
have the bore holes in the gasket go out to the end of the ring recess,
otherwise the copper edge would heat up and cause detonation. If I have it made
that way, the strip of copper between adjacent cylinders would be very thin.

I thought of decking the block to remove the recesses, but they seem too deep.
Has anyone run across this before?

Thanks, Tom Marincic
