Ryan,

Before you get to involved in checking out an alternator problem I
would first make sure you dont have a simple light bulb problem. What
you describe sounds like a bulb fixture that isnt quite seated in the
guage all the way causing an intermittant on/off problem. Worth a shot
first before spending a lot of time diagnosing other problems.

Here's to simple fixes. Hope it works. Cheers.

Subject: charging light

i noticed recently that sometimes my red charging (ignition) light is
not
going on when i turn the key over to "start". sometimes it does go on.
if it does, it shuts off after the engine's running for a few seconds,
like normal.
i have not had any problems getting the car to start as of yet. once
running, the ammeter is about 1/4 of the way into the C+ zone.
the battery is about 6 years old and the alternator is a rebuilt one, i
installed it maybe 6 months ago.
you guys have any ideas of what's going on?
