Vic,
I think you are referring to the stub axle oil seals right? I brought mine to
a few local shops and no one would touch them for fear of damage. You need
the "right" tools and knowledge. I believe you will need to press the bearing
from the axle to allow the oil seal housing to be removed to access the oil
seal
itself. Not much clearance to press the bearing off the axle without the
knowledge or the tools.
Just the inner axle shaft is $138 Moss. The driving flange is not even
available at MOSS. Oil seal is cheap at $6.00 each though. The whole package is
expensive to replace so I ended up shipping both of my stub axles to TRF and
had
them do the oil seal replacements for me.
They blasted everything, replaced the oil seals, replaced the bearings
(TIMKEN I think), reassembled and painted them gloss black. All this for about
$150.00 + shipping. I had this done in January 2003.
I know...all this for two $6.00 oil seals, but hey I wanted to stop oils
leaks where I could. Good Luck!
