Joe,

Don't have to pull the axles.  You must jack the frame
& rest it on something then jack the trailing arm to
relieve the vertical links.  BE SURE TO RELEASE the
parking brake.  After undoing the nuts holding the
vertical links, slowly lower the trailing arm.  The
axle will/must turn.  The trailing arm should fall low
enough to just pull the spring out...easy as cold
beer!

Oh, you may have to undo the rear brake line from the
trailing arm as it may drop too far for the line.
