Eric,
You can use a class II hitch with a 1 1/4" receiver to mount a 2-4 bike  
carrier. There are several brands of carriers available. The hitch should, of  
course, be frame mounted and wouldn't be good for any other purpose. My  
brother 
has this setup on his Saab and uses it regularly.
