The answer depends on what year you bought your TR6. As you can imagine,
the dollar/pound relationship varied over the years. From '69 to '76, the
trend was more dollars per pound.

At any rate, the first TR6 that my Dad bought cost around $4k. That was
1971 and the car was used - it had 1200 miles on it. When Dad decided that
he wanted a red TR6 with a racing stripe, he paid a tad over $6k. That was
April 1, 1974. I still have that car. It came with a few options (am/fm,
bumper over-riders, luggage rack and the stripe) but it had the G-800's
and steel disk wheels).

In 1971, Consumer Reports printed an article titled "The Under $3500 GT"
and the TR6, 914 and 240Z were featured.
