The way rocker arm specialists "do" the shaft is that they "turn it" to
get it smooth. They then "hard chrome" the shaft to a nominal dimension.
They then ream the bushed rockers to that nominal dimension. How they do
all the labor for the price that they do it is totally beyond me!

I have had at least 5 shafts done by them and I am a happy customer.

I will add a couple of notes of caution. Because the rockers are reamed to
fit the shaft, the nominal ID of the rockers will be less than the .563
(rounded) diameter of a stock shaft. This means NOTHING to the performance
of the shaft. It does, however mean that should the shaft or a rocker
break, you are SOL and you have to replace the whole assembly (or do a
TON of machine work to get everything to work right).

I also need to point out that we're talking about used rocker shafts here.
Save yourself some time if you plan to do this route - get the old shaft
crack tested at the area where the oil hole and the set screw fit
together. This is the most likely place for the shaft to break and any
cracks should be treated as FATAL and the shaft thrown in the ash bin.

Last point - if you are going to high lift cams, the previous point is
even more important because the shaft is highly stressed and the cracks
will become breaks more soonerer. :-) Especially if you rev the motor.

But for the casual TR6 person, the rebuilt Rocker Shaft Specialists
represents a significant value, IMHO. I say go for it.

On the other hand, the roller rockers do look pretty awesome... we need to
come up with a lexan valve cover so you can see those pretty dudes rockin'
away in there...
