I opened my door to get out of my '74 TR6 on Sunday. I heard a clank and the
door obviously opened wider than the check strap would normally allow.
Thankfully, I did not damage the new paint on the door or front fender.
What appears to have happened is that the bracket on the door pulled through
the opening. The opening doesn't appear to be significantly larger and I think
with a little hammering with a dolly and hammer I can bring it back pretty
close to the original size.
Anyone else had any experience with this? Are the brackets for the doors
available? I looked in a BV catalog I happen to have at work and do not see
them listed. It appears that they push through from the inside and are held in
place by the vertical buldge and width of the back of the bracket.
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. I just hate taking off my new
door panels.
