As Hugh pointed out, if you have the stock lug nuts, a 7//8" socket will do
the trick. The size you got from the book is the thread spec.

Normal. If you ever put it on 2 or 4 jack stands, make sure to position the
stands on the frame close to where the axles cross it, that way the weight
gets distributed more or less the same as when the car is sitting on its
wheels. Your doors will (should) open no problem. At least that's how it
works on my car.
