That's what happens when I look at 2 or 3 different diagrams and end up
with a kludge. You're right, according to your manual, I should have used
a brown/white wire to supply the fan, not come straight off the battery
like I did on my ammeter equipped car. All's fixed, Thanks!

Which set of my instructions did you use? If I have a set of instructions
out there suggesting that you connect the relay to the battery in a car
with an ammeter, I need to correct them, because that is not right. What
you are seeing on your ammeter is not the battery charge current, but the
current to the fan. It will appear as charge current if it is hooked
