Thanks everyone for your replies.  I had read allusions to the fact that
changing oil filters is a PITA, but man oh man!

I thought I would keep my car stock, but not if if I have to go through this
everytime. I will do the spin on conversion next time. I was able to get the
gasket out with a push pin.
