Subject: Brake Fluid types
My 1974 TR6 brakes are the original equipment except for the pads.
I am in the procees of replacing all the hardware in my braking system
master cylinder, stainless steel hoses, rear cylinders springs,
adjusters, etc. I am going to flush the system and replace with new
fluid. What type of fluid should I use with my new configuration. Mr.
Mike Brinker stated that he uses Silcone in his six and had no problems.
I have read about the different types of fluid D.O.T. 3,4, Silicone 5
and Silicone 5.1. The Triumph specifications say use DOT 3. I also
received a email from a Triumph owner and he said that the Silcone would
not seal well but it would not hurt your paint!
Would you please submitt the question to the 6 Pack discussion list.
Thank you
