Hey Nick, I should have sent you a note about this a few days ago when I saw
this discussion going on. I have a Crane XR700 in my 6 and I had the exact
problem that you are describing. the mounting bracket stuck up to high and I
could hear arc'ing in the cap. I pulled the distributor cap to inspect and
there were blue burn marks on the the metal bracket. I just ground down the
excess of the bracket and put some silicone gasket maker on top of what was
left. Seemed to fix the problem for me. Good luck.
