Nick, This may not be the answer in your case but I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I had the same arching under the cap and a low rpm miss at idle & just of idle under load. A defective spark plug was the culprit for me, the last thing I would have though of. One other thought is the proper plug wires to match the new spark.
