I started our TR-6 by just sticking a battery in and
cranking. It was parked for 9 *years* ....
Now having said that, it didn't run worth a crap...
but then it had 12 *year* old fuel in it......
...and the carbs are original....
This was a non-scientific experiment, and I don't
recommend it. I fully expect to go through the
whole car someday anyway, so it really didn't matter.
Is oiling the cylinders necessary? Probably not, but
it can't hurt. I would do that, then try to prime the
oil pump, either manually or by cranking with the
plugs out.
Then fire away. Oh, and good gas....
