Jim,
Fellow lister Rick Patton is making fan spacers from aluminum that replace the
heavy extension. These replace the old heavy steel extensions with a much
smaller, and much lighter spacer made of aircraft aluminum, so much less
rotating mass. I have one that I have yet to put on my car, but I have seen
them on a vehicle and they work great. His website is:

Then just click on the fan eliminator link. Also, check out the other
interesting items on his website. He has added fuel injection to his car and
is working on some other neat projects.
NFI, etc, etc., but he is too polite to toot his own horn or promote his own
product.
And as for the crank pulley, you can reduce your cost further if you choose a
brake assistant who is young enough to just drink soda. Sorry, couldnt resist.
And one last tidbit, great day for a drive. Temp at about 75, mostly sunny and
a newly paved winding road following a river with little or no traffic in rural
Maine. For those of you close to the state the driving on almost any back road
is incredibly nice.
Cheers,
Aaron
