Al---Your throwout bearing, or rather the hydraulic hoses to and from
it, shouldn't leak at all. Can you describe exactly where it leaks?

Bleeding the system is a good place to start. Also be sure your pedal
stop-bolt isn't adjusted too far up from the floor, if you are using one
of these. I understand that depressing the clutch pedal too far isn't a
good idea, so follow insructions closely.

On the cylinder bore cross hatch pattern. I never thought of this as
being an exact science. With a typical portable drill motor running at
half speed, just run the three-stone honer up and down the bore
averaging about one stroke per second, for about 10 seconds each. This
should scratch into the walls a nice finish in which the rings can seat
perperly.

Hi Dick,
I did speak to Herman and he doesn't have a clue. One theory is to bleed
my hydraulics and see if that solves the problem. I do leak some fluid
from the T/O bearing...about a tablespoon every other day or so
depending on use. Perhaps some air had crept in.
On another topic...I have another '74 motor on the engine stand and I'm
looking for advise as I go along and rebuild it. On cylinder
honing...what drill speed should lay down a good cross scratch on the
wall? I've never honed a cylinder in my life but I'm having fun so far.
