Joe,

I just installed an Isky Z-19 mild road cam in conjunction with milling the
head from 3.550" to 3.430" (120 mils off for about 9.5:1 CR). I can assure you
(and Ted Schumacher has my $90. to prove it with my purchase of his shortened
moly push rods) that the stock push rods won't work with my setup. So, if you
are using stock push rods and rocker gear, your head hasn't been milled that
much and/or your cam's lift is not as big as you might think. Perhaps your
pedestals have been shimmed?

The Isky specs have the lash at 0.016" hot (0.018" cold), values that are
0.008" wider than the stock 0.010". I believe the main reason for the wider
lash is to lessen the impact on the valve train from a sudden transition from
the base circle to the ramp portion of each lobe. Maybe you could open up the
lash and see if it helps your noise problem?
