Thanks to Jim, Vance and all who responded to this one. It seems like most 
favor painting the housing black for at least rust prevention.  Well, following 
my normal tendency toward shipwrights, I've primed mine with a POR 15 
treatment and will finish with a black engine enamel as I have with the rest of 
the 
parts to date.  Should at least slow the rust down a bit
