Guys/Gals,
Today, with the temp hovering around 72 degrees' I took the TR6 for a spin. A
real nice ride, then I couldn't stand it when I got home, so I pulled out the
MGB and took her out for a drive. Wow what a time we had! When they were both
safey in the garage, I decided that I had to detail the wheels. The "6" has
chrome wire wheels, and although they always look nice....I wanted to "kick
them up a notch"
Just about that time, my loving wife (it's really her TR6}, cleaned out my sock
drawer and was about to throw all my loving, holey, white socks away!!! I
quickly grabed them and put them into my "rag" pile for cleaning the cars.
Now, back to wanting to clean the wire wheels and "kicking them up a notch". I
put one of those old white socks on like a mitten and began to see that I could
get my fingers in between the tight spots of the spokes, began rubbing them,
and was able to turn my fingers around each spoke. I have 72 spokes on each
wheel, X 4 wheels, thats 228 spokes, plus the spline on each! And all from an
old white sock! I stood back and looked in amazement! Dang, they look good!
So, the moral of this story is, don't ever let your wife or husband throw your
old white socks away....they will do wonders on your wheels...just put em on
like a mitten!!
Oh.... Dick Taylor....I took the TR6 to All American in Downey today and it
took me 1/2 hour just to get in the store!!! Cars and people actually stopped
to talk and ask questions about the Triumph! Isn't this a GREAT hobby that we
have!
Do keep those Old White Socks, but please wash them first!!! We don't want our
Triumphs smelling like dirty old socks!! )
