Can't say if a lighter viscosity oil would cause problems in a TR engine vs.
new equipment. I would assume climate would play a part. I run 20W/50
Castrol in my new engine (in CT) and will change to synthetic at around 10K.
I only run in warm weather either way. After reading on several sites about
oil filter quality I stick with Pureolater PureOne filters (PL20064), though
I believe the Ford Motorcraft filters are about the same. Read up on it at
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html or do a seach on Google
for many other sites.
