But is it difficult to remove the old cam from my CR engine, and install
it in the CC engine? And if I do, should I reground, polish etc.. the
cam before I install it in the CC.
I just don't want to disassemble, then reassemble unless there is
something substantial to gain. The engine came complete with the head
on. I just added my distributor, and manifolds.
Thanks for the input, I really do appreciate it, without guys like you,
I'd be totally lost here.
Thanks again,
Gene

Don't know if you missed anything or not. I was just
passing along my recollections of the differences.
I am not certain I would bother with rebuilding
the old head to retain the later intake manifold, although I
believe I would install the later cam in my newly rebuilt CC
motor. The later cam is the 125HP cam from the PI motors.
The earlier head has higher compression, and I
*think* a larger exhaust valve. It also has less efficient
port shapes.
Bottom line: The earlier head has enough pluses to
offset the minuses in terms of power. If you use the
later cam, you can end up with more power than you started
with....
Just my $0.02

Thanks Vance,
Some observations, and answers to your questions.
I would like to keep this manifold, but I won't fit the head. But if I
rebuilt my old head (from the 73) would that fit and fix my problems?.
But this may be going too far as far as that is conserned.
The '73 or CR engine did not have an EGR, and it did have an anti-runon
valve, I can use the setup from the 73 carbs for this. It's the vacume
fitting for the brake booster that may be a problem.
The CC motor does have a different flywheel with the pilot bushing
inside the crank, as opposed to on the flywheel. But I have the correct
flywheel, just need to get a new pilot bushing.
SO I guess I'll change out the manifold, use my '73 hoses from the carbs
and adjust the mixture to accommodate the increased compression, also
check the ant-runon to see how it can connect. I've been looking at the
TRF drawings to see what I have to do.
Did I miss anything?
