I started that thread after having an inner cap failure. In seeking 
replacements from a UK source, (very knowledgable), he discovered that Triumph 
went to 
a single cap after experiencing problems with the inner cap, which was forged 
alloy. He was completely unable to find any of the old caps. He has shipped me 
a set of 6 of the new ones. I'm going to change them all out.

Maybe Jonmac could tell us why Triumph originally had a dual cap. Beat's me.
