I have a 1970 TR6 that was restored by a previous owner in '94. He chose not
to undercoat the
wheel wells, etc. The outer paint looks really good on the body still.
However, there's a
lot of peeling in the wheel wells and in a couple spots on the frame, leaving
just primered
metal and maybe even a few unpainted spots as well. This was all worsened by
the mud
experience at the TRF Summer Party this year.
Obviously, I need to do something to keep this from getting worse, and I'm
certainly not ready
for another body off restoration yet. Anyone with any experience in this? My
thinking is
that I need to get under there, wire-brush the whole area, sand it, prime it
and paint it, but
I've never done this stuff before. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Jim
