Aaron, on my 76 there is a white/pink wire coming off the ignition switch
(terminal #6) that is supposedly dedicated for a radio.  I believe my CD
player uses this for "aux" on power, and the radio comes on as soon as you
turn the key to position 1.  Constant power can come from any purple wire as
you mentioned.
