throttle shaft wear

I bit the bullet and took out the carbs to do a rebuild.  Upon taking the
throttle shaft seals and throttle plate out, I reinstalled the shaft and
measured about .002 inch side to side play of the shaft in the body.  Does
anyone know if this is too much, and if so what is the acceptable wear limit?
