Todd,
you are exactly right! Many list subscribers including yourself have been
replying to messages from the 6pack@autox.team.net list but the messages don't
go through because of a change made to the mailserver preventing any messages
with the "///" trailing messages that are now at the bottom of every list
message. If those trailing slashes are there, your message will be
bounced/rejected! There have been about 10-15 of these each day.
Mark did this so that you would edit your messages. There have been many
messages that contain lengthy replies that should be trimmed down. These long
messages take up disk space on the server and bandwidth too. They are also
cumbersome when searching through list archives.
So, when you reply to a message, you will need to trim out the "///" stuff at
the bottom and you should also edit your message to contain only the reference
to the message you need for your reply.... basic e-mail etiquette.
Another problem with those subscribers who have Hotmail (like me) is that their
"free" service limits you to only a small amount of disk space. Your mailbox
gets filled up quick and then messages sent to you from the list are rejected!
They come back to me saying you are over quota. Hotmail really stinks because
of this. So, If I keep getting bounced messages from a hotmail address because
of quota, I have no idea if you have abandoned your address or you went on
vacation! If I see bounced messages from a particular address for more than a
week, I usually remove the address from the mailing list. If this happens,
simply re-subscribe.
Regarding the AOL spam issues, Mark Bradakis is aware of the problem.
Hope that helps.
See you at the TRials?
