List,
Continuing with my effort to get my 6 back on the road. I have determined that
the problem with my hood alignment comes from the frame being twisted left rear
to right front. All of the diagonal measurements show the front end to be
square. When the car is on the wheels, the right rear fender opening is about
1 and 1/4 inches higher than the right rear. This would throw the right front
of the car lower, which creates the problem with my hood being a half inch
higher than my right front fender. The car will go to the frame guy again this
week.
I have another question. This comes from the length of time my car has been in
pieces. The body shop put shims between the fender and scuttle (area behind
the hood that the windshield sits on). They did this to align the gap between
the front of the door and the scuttle and fender. I believe that these gaps
shouldn't align exactly and that the spacers need to come out and the fender
needs to bolt directly to the scuttle, just like the rear fender bolts up
directly. Your help is appreciated.
