Hi listers,
I have decided to sell my 1973 TR6 (Mallard/New Tan). I just don't have the
time to spend on the engine re-build anymore. :(
I have owned this car for 22 years and I have renewed everything except for the
engine.
I have always kept the car in excellent shape, I even won Best Triumph at a
local British car show along with other awards at other car shows in summer of
1998. At the end of that summer, the car was showing low oil pressure due to
worn crank bearings.
So for the last 7 months or so, I have been trying to find the time to re-build
the engine.
I currently have all the parts machined along with new parts ready to go back
together, the block is still on the engine stand (honed cylinders, block
cleaned by engine machine shop and ready for re-ass'y.)
The original crank was turned .020 under by engine machine shop.
I purchased a re-ground Piper 270 Camshaft from BPNW.
New piston rings, machine shop cleaned up original pistons.
Head (Original) was cleaned/seats ground by engine re-build machine shop.
I had original rocker ass'y. re-built by Rocker Arm Specialists, bushed
rockers, new shaft (better that new).
Gearbox is in great condition, I inspected the gears without removing them,
rebuilt the top actuators/shifter/seals. It is ready for oil and it is good to
go. I also purchased a new plastic gearbox cover with gaskets from TRF.
I also purchased new cu/ni brake line set to replace the original steel 30 year
old lines, the lines look good, but I was going to replace them for safety
reasons.
Also have new front rotors, semi-met. pads and Stainless Steel pistons with
rebuild kits for front brake calipers.
The rest of the car is excellent, new tires (less than 1000 mi from summer of
1998).
I also have a black hard top to go with it, black cockpit cover and new tan
toneau cover for the black convertible top. The seats are new tan "original"
and are in excellent shape....
I can give more details off list.
This is an excellent example of a TR6 with no surprises. The engine is ready
for re-assembly, which I know some of you would rather see it that way so you
know what condition the engine is in.
