Hi Jim:

Odd sort of story that one. Full of messages like, (paraphrasing because I'm
too lazy to get out the mag) "despite the fact that everybody sneers at the
TR6 it's actually a nice car". The article seemed to be intent on debunking
the dreadful "unenviable" reputation the car (and other Triumphs) had. I had
never actually been aware that the car had such a bad rep.

When I bought my TR6, I was not flush with cash, but getting a slightly
rusty roadster cheap was not the reason for the decision of which machine to
buy. I frankly loved the open-spirited, light-hearted feeling to the Triumph
with it's strong 6 cylinder engine. I still do. People used to refer to TRs
as "poor man's Juaguars". I suppose that it's true. At the time if I had had
the dollars to acquire and repair a Jag I would have bought one. Eventually
I will probably sniff around and get the results of somebody else's
handiwork or a new machine if I can convince myself that driving one in
Montreal's winter isn't a crime. But the TR I restored myself from one end
to the other. The job's not done and will take some more cash, (probably
enough to buy a rusty Jaguar) but I'm OK with that. In the meantime I'm
having fun.

Anyway, I'm just expressing the feeling that I don't require somebody's
approval to feel good about my TR6. I'm glad that the lovers of expensive
motor cars now are willing to consider that the TR6 is actually worth
having. Perhaps it will raise the value of my car. However since I'm not
selling that doesn't mean much. Still there were some nice pictures of some
very nicely restored cars with proud owners. Those were definitely nice to
see.

Cheers,

Mark Hooper

Hello all,

Don't know if anyone else mentioned this but I was at the book store today
and spotted a British magazine "Classic & Sports Car". On the cover is a TR6

with the headline story about our favorite car. The front cover says
"Triumph TR6
Britain's bargain beefcake- why owners love them, why we love them and why

you should too.

Not a bad article,
