Ilegal Brake lines

Are Cu Ni (Copper Nickel treated I think) brake lines legal in the US?
I had heard about some brake line material not being legal in the US?
I believe the original lines on the TR6 are steel, and I am about to purchase
a new set with metric threads for my 1973 TR6. Moss has Cu Ni lines at a good
price. Vic. Brit has steel I think, and Stainless I think is not needed.
Any thoughts on Cu Ni  being ilegal?
