I am looking around myself.
I've talked to JC Taylor http://www.jctaylor.com/
They said there is no hard mileage limit, but they recommend 2500 per
year. They said it was intended for travel to and from car shows,
occasional (weekly) pleasure drives, and maintenance drives. They did
not want it driven to work or parked in public parking lots.
They said if you had a claim and they thought you were in violation of
the policy guidelines, they would pay the claim and cancel the policy.
You have to wonder about the guidelines. If you drive to a car show, it
seems to me that you would be parking at the local Holiday Inn over
night. Seems to be a public parking lot. I suppose it's just a game of
playing the odds, and they don't want it left unattended in public
parking areas frequently. I think If I was a car thief, and saw my (yet
to be) fully restored show winning TR250 parked next to my daughter's
BMW 330 in the parking lot, I'd go for the BMW :-).
Sounds easy to qualify. They want one photo -- frontal/angle -- no rust,
no primer, no body damage. I think the car must be 25 years old for
antique, and 20 years for "HotRod". Better check that.
My Independent Insurance Agent said that if I got antique auto insurance
through him, he would use JC Taylor. I guess they have even lower prices
for agents. The price to me would be the same. Prices are reasonable. I
think liability was under $50.00 per year with adders for comprehensive
and collision.
I've made no decisions yet. They all seem pretty good.
