I use Sta Lube GL4 gear lube available at NAPA stores. I use a Sta Lube
pump and pump it into the top up opening. I think the manual has an
instruction something like "pump in the gear lube, and then when it stops
streaming out of the top up opening, the level is correct". A less messy
way is to see what the capacity of the gearbox is, and then use the
graduations on the Sta Lube jug to help you measure in the correct amount
