Ryan---If the sharpness you see is on the end of the bronze carrier
sleeve, I would emery it off. You don't want anything that could cause
the sleeve to hang as you ENGAGE the clutch. You could try making this
sleeve stick on the front cover, as you operate it by hand, and try
cocking these parts as could happen when in operation.
The Gunst bearing and sleeve I've had in my own car came with a nice
chamfer on the end that counts. No problems of any kind, during the
7,000+ miles. I also lightly polished the front cover and used the
grease supplied to give this package every advantage, (as I also did
with the KOYO and the RHP.) This one seems the best, so far. It is
preloaded, as was the KOYO, and there's still no undue wear on the
thrust washers. (I checked them again three weeks ago. Still had the
.004 clearance after about 15,000 miles) I suspect the 15 lb. of spring
preload isn't enough to push the heavy crankshaft with enough force to
accelerate thrust washer wear. At least it's no enough to cause the
crankshaft to push against the dial indicator with the engine at rest,
as I had to do the moving both ways. Tick tock.
