Does it take something special to weld stainless steel?

Its late so bare with me. On my (76 Tr6) I had to cut the pipes only after
an initial fitting because they were too long and passed the bend at the
front pipe. Once I had them fit I cut them to length (as I remember only
about 4 inches). My system does not hang down below where the originals
were, and in fact take nearly the same route. My mufflers are in front of
the rear valance, but the pipes stick up and out past it. It does seem a
little low at the rear most point, but I just take care on steep driveway
entries. Only dray back is that the rear bumper can get hot at times as it
appears the tips blow almost directly on it.

All in all you will recognize a nicer than the already stock sound and some
minor increase in performance. I eventually had my system welded, because
not matter what I did the pipes would always start to leak at the clamps.

Lister's,
I am trying to fit the falcon stainless steel dual exhaust to a 75 TR6 with
overdrive. It may just be me it seems the mounting bracket securing the rear
of the transmission and OD unit is in the way. First a list of
questions:
1) Do the rear pipes tuck up even with the frame rails or do they hang down?
2)Do the silencers line up with the over riders or rest inside of them?
3)The instructions make a casual mention of cutting the head pipe, how much
if any?

This will get me going in the proper direction I think. Just as information
I am set up to cut pipe, weld (MIG) and fabricate brackets. I can not bend
pipe without going to a shop and that would be a monday trip. Hope some of
you BTDT group are still up. Thanks for any help. All suggestions are much
appreciated.
