It's fairly expensive because of the weight. I don't think you have to pack
them in cardboard, etc. ... just get the shipping label on them with clear
tape.
I've received tires that way from Tire Rack -- I think they lashed two at a
time together. Of course, they were brand new ... UPS probably wouldn't
appreciate any mud-covered specimens!
