Too late, pal ... the transmission in my '72 TR6 (good synchros in all
gears; nonworking overdrive -- but, hey, who needs overdrive?) is already
consulting libel lawyers, and you will be hearing from them soon. What state
do you live in? Does it allow punitive damages for harm to self-esteem?
The tranny in my '63 Healey (no synchros remaining in second gear
whatsoever, and never had them in first) happens to agree with you, but is
keeping his opinions to himself for fear of being sued by his stablemate.

Subject: Apology offered
Listers,
My over-zealous and critical attitude toward my stock tranny went over
the top and I considered all others guilty as charged. I'm sorry if I
sounded like a reformed cigar smoker. Perhaps if I took the time to
tear apart, inspect, and replace any worn-out parts I'd be singing
another tune. But I'd still be without a 5th gear. I still feel I've
got something better than the original, with or without a 5th gear.
For those still interested, Herman van den Akker has 28 complete
conversion kits for sale. Discuss price with him @ handhvan@msn.com.
In addition, if you want a copy of the conversion manuel to look over,
let me know. I'd be happy to mail a copy of mine to you . . . permission
given by Herman of course.
Herman does not have a web sight. He is protective of his design. Also,
I have no financial interest with him . . . just a satisfied customer.
If I have violated any guidelines for using the 6PACK list would someone
let me know.
I guess I'll tear apart my old tranny when the cold weather breaks.
Al Graffam CT 74TR6 (still waiting for my fenders - I mean BUMPERS -
to get rechromed)
