Listers:
I wrote to the list a couple of weeks ago about my lack of a dipstick (the
aftermarket oil temp sender replaced the dipstick) and asked about ways to
check my oil level. Anyway, I figured out how to use the pseudo dipstick as
an actual dipstick and set the oil level that way. About that time, I
developed a leak with a little bit of oil coming out around the oil filler
cap onto the top of the valve cover when driving.
I got a refurbished dipstick from TRF in the mail a few days ago. When I
checked the oil level with a proper dipstick, I found that I was about a
quart over the full mark. I drained out the extra oil today. Now I have it
about 3/4 of the way from the low to the full marks.
Would over-filling the crankcase explain a new leak from the oil filler cap?
The seal on the cap looks good, but I really can't tell.
