All,

We've had considerable discussion on this topic over the past few months.

I have been putting together a spread of required bolts, nuts and washers
that complements the excellent spreadsheet put together by Nelson Reidel of
Buckeye Triumphs.

My goal is to replace *all* significant bolts, nuts and washers with AN or
grade 8 quality. All nuts (lock and plain, full- and half-height) and
washers (plain & lock, thick & thin) in AN grade are most inexpensively
sourced from either Aircraft Spruce or TrueChoice. They are also the best
place to source AN bolts.

All bolts cannot be obtained in AN, so I have to purchase some in grade 8.
My problem here is that McMaster-Carr will only sell bolts in lots of 100.
Can anyone suggest a place to (inexpensively) purchase grade-8 bolts
individually? It is considerably cheaper to buy in lots of 100, but there
are a lot bolts in different lengths as indicated by the following table,
and except for a few sizes, I rarely need more than 6 each.

1/4-28: 5/8", 3/4".
5/16-24: 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 1 3/4", 2 3/4".
3/8-24: 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 1", 1 1/8", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 1 7/8", 2", 2 1/2", 2
3/4", 3", 3 1/4".
7/16-20: 3" 5/8.

Note that there are *some* bolts that are specialty bolts. E.g., head studs
and flywheel bolts are best sourced from ARP. Crown and pinion gear, and
U-joint flange bolts are very highly-spec'd bolts that no-one other than the
Triumph vendors carry. These bolts do not carry any head markings, and have
a weird length:grip ratio that I have not been able to match from ARP.

So, to reiterate, anyone know where I can get individual grade 8 bolts
cheaply?
