Just last week I removed the same pins you are speaking of from my 73 TR6.  
They were awful.  I installed the cone shaped pins and realigned the hood.  
Things are much better now.  The cone shaped pins are available at Moss and 
often up on Ebay.  They don't come with nuts or washers, but I was able to get 
them at my local Ace hardware store with no problem.  Just make sure you take 
the cone with you to the hardware store.  I think it's a metric thread.
