Greetings all,

Well the tales of woe that have been well documented on the list have come
to roost in my garage or should I say I found out why my car sat in a garage
ignored for 5 or 10 years.

I started to dismantle the rear suspension thinkng it had been only half
rebuilt to find the dreaded studs pulled from the trailing arm, including
one that wasn't even there.  The moral here is if the rear end feels loose,
believe it something is WRONG.

At any rate here's the questions,

I've read Nelson's article (Buckeye Ruiumphs) on steel inserts and wonder
what the collective wisdom on thread inserts vs. Heil-Coils.  Also here I'm
leaning towards replacing any of the studs that have "backed out" of the
housing.  Good idea or should I replace them all?

Also since the list was so good about where to get rebuilt shocks (yup need
those also) I wondered if anyone knew who was good at rebuilding the outer
hub assembly.

yes still more questions.  I have two different "sliding joint" assemblies
one is just a push together affair the other has a screw on collar that
seems to lock the inner/outer assemblies together.  Which is the stock? Also
even if one isn't original has anyone else had experience with this and is
there any big deal with just rebuilding and re-installing one of each style
on the car?

Further inspection of the read diff mounts leaves me the impression that
they were not tightened down very much.  The front mount have some
compresion of the rubber should the rear have some also.

Finally are there any pictures of the bracing that has been added to the
front mounting bracket to add support for the front diff mounts.
