The email goes to Paula, but the message to Al.
So, I just received Herman's beautiful kit. Got the tranny. Also got
Richard Good's Nissan 300Z rear diff kit and the diff [4.08:1, viscous
limited slip]. Will be reporting my progress to 6Pack. Would love to
hear from you and share experiences.

Two years ago my 22 year old nephew came to live with us [to save him
from the bad drugs and prison he'd already been to -- he is great and
rehabilitated today]. Anyway, he was an ace auto mechanic and a good
driver. We used my stock TR 6 as a bonding/learning experience. Took
the stock car with original 185 red lines to driving class from the
local BMW club driving school [Seattle - a really good one]. Spent time
on the track. Got the bug, stareted the mods. During the first winter
did in the stock suspension, got triple webers, spun the rod bearings,
rebuilt the engine, balance it, over bored, new pistons, new head, fan,
etc.. Last year got the 16x7 Panasports and Kuhmo tires.

Woke up in September this year and realized at 57 years old I'm not
getting any younger. Decided to stay with the Six [as opposed to
getting a Porsche -- anyone can do that] but make it an M3 [up to 1998
versions anyway] killer. I currently have 130 HP at the wheels. Need at
least 150 and hope for 180.. So, this winter I have invested a ton:
Serious head/valve porting; Jet Hot ceramic coating on the Pacesetter
exhaust header, single 2.5" single exhaust system, roller rockers and
tubular push rods, 295 degree cam, Toyota 5 speed, Nissan diff,
Electromotive crank fired triple coil ignition [is this gonna be bitchen
TR6, er TR Toyissan, or what!]

I am already faster in the curves [the tires, shocks, lowered
suspension, serious brakes, etc. have made it a go kart already --
though I am doing a small change ins witching to a 12" steering wheel]
-- now I hope to keep up or pass in the straights. When I go to a
driving class and they are talking about "giving signals to allow faster
cars to pass" they always point to me [though I usually run in the
slower classes and do most the passing cause I'm so much faster in the
curves]. I really hope to surprise them this year.

Now if I could only learn to drive [or more accurately, learn to catch
it when the rear wheels start to go]!

What are you up to with your beast?

Hi there,

For all those latest postings from guys with tranny troubles . . . I
haven't heard of anyone considering a conversion over to a Toyota
system.
I truly do hope that the reason why someone would not consider it is
that the purity/orginality would be lost. Doesn't it make sense to have

an 80s design tranny than a 50's? Besides, no one would ever know
except
you.

Waiting for my van den Akker conversion from UPS,

Al Graffam 74TR6 French Blue CT.
